Residues and contaminants

We conduct analyses of environmental samples, foods and fodder. Our services include a wide range of residues and contaminants for which we determine the content levels. They include:

Residues

(rest of substances that are inserted puropsefully in the food producution)

  • Mycotoxins caused by mold contamination
  • Dioxins and PCB from contaminated fodder
  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAC)
  • Nitrates from plant raw materials
  • Undesirable constituents
  • Plant protection agents by multi method
  • Plant protection agents by single method
  • Medicines of relating to veterinary medicine treatments

Contaminants

(Contamination with substances that are not used on puropose but come into food unintended)

  • Heavy metals e.g. lead, cadmium, Quicksilver or Arsenic
  • Aromatic hydrocarbons like BTEX, i.e. benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, xylene and styrene
  • Volatile halogenated hydrocarbons (VHH)
  • Organnostanic compounds
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (flame retardant)
  • Polyfluorinated tensides (PFT) from extinguishing foam
  • Chlorinated naphthalenes
  • Chlorobenzene
  • Algae toxins (microcystines)
  • Nitrate of vegetable raw materials

Regulations

Excerpt from Regulation (EEC) No 315/93:

‘Contaminants are substances that are not deliberately added to foods.

But they may be present in the food as residue from the manufacture, presentation, packaging, transport or storage of the food, or pass into the food as a result of environmental contamination.

The European Union (EU) takes measures to reduce contaminant contents in foods in order to limit the negative effects of contaminants on food and to prevent possible risks to human health.’
