Sample preparation / digestions

Proper sample preparation is a critical step in achieving accurate analytical results. The following are examples of some of the routine techniques we perform at SYNLAB Products:

With sulphuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, perchloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, individually or in combination (e.g. aqua regia) open digestions in beakers, pressure digestions or microwave digestions are carried out.

  • oxidizing sodium peroxide (Wurzschmitt)
  • alkaline potash
  • acid potassium pyrosulfate
  • or good dissolving lithium tetraborate
  • Ashing in an open crucible at up to 1100 °C
  • Wickbold incineration (oxyhydrogen flame)
  • Pressure incineration (calorimeter bomb) under oxygen atmosphere (30 bar)
  • Controlled incineration in the oxygen stream
  • Hot extraction (e.g. using Soxhlet apparatus)
  • Liquid / Liquid - Extraction
  • Solid phase extraction
  • Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME)
  • Derivatization
